The Dammam-based Al-Yaum, commenting the peace process in the Middle East, said it seems that the gap is steadily broadening among the Palestinians in a manner that may threaten the gains the Palestinians tried to attain in the last six decades like the international recognition with their right to self-determination and establishment of a Palestinian state. The paper noted that the statements recently spelled out by the leadership of Hamas will pave the way for the demolition of the Palestinian house. The paper criticized the statements and said these have come at a time when the Palestinians are facing difficult situation and Israel is enjoying support of the strong countries in the world. Al-Yaum pointed out that the Palestinian references like the National Council and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) enjoy national and local recognition and that these are capable of working in a logical and an objective manner without a lot of foreign hegemony. "Planning to destroy the current Palestinian references which enjoy an international recognition will mean going on the path of a wrong direction and gambling with the Palestinian cause as well as involving it in a regional and international compromises and temporary tactics. However, there is no way for the Palestinians other than unifying their ranks on the bases of the current references because that constitute the most suitable remedy for realizing the Palestinian dream," the paper added.--MORE www.spa.gov.sa/631141
