BUCHAREST, Sept 1, SPA -- Romania's Defense Ministry saysa soldier was killed and four others wounded in Afghanistanwhen their vehicle drove over an explosive device, ap reported. The ministry says the soldiers were on patrol Sunday onthe highway between Kabul and Qalat, a town near Kandaharin southern Afghanistan. The dead soldier was identified as 31-year-old Sgt. Maj. Dragos Traian Alexandrescu. The four wounded soldiers arebeing treated in hospital. There are 783 Romanian troops deployed in Afghanistan. Seven Romanian soldiers have died and 27 have been woundedsince the country first sent troops in 2002. --SPA www.spa.gov.sa/586520
