Afghan Official: 25 Taliban killed or wounded in clashes

KABUL, Afghanistan, July 22, SPA -- U.S.-led coalition and Afghantroops clashed with and called in air strikes on Taliban in western Afghanistan, killing and wounding more than 25 insurgents, an Afghan official said Tuesday. The joint force has been battling insurgents in Bala Bulukdistrict of Farah province since Monday afternoon, saidregional police spokesman Rauf Ahmadi. Two police officers were wounded in the fighting, whichalso involved coalition air strikes on the insurgents'positions, Ahmadi said. There were no reports of coalitioncasualties, the Associated Press reported. In Kabul, meanwhile, a suicide bomber on foot detonatedhimself Tuesday next to the walls of the city's historicBabur Gardens, a popular public park, wounding threecivilians, said police official Ali Shah Paktiawal.
