Tehran, July 09, SPA -- Iran's elite Revolutionary Guardstest-fired nine long and medium range missiles Wednesdayduring war games, state television reported. Gen. Hossein Salami, the Guards' navy commander, wasquoted as saying the exercise, would «demonstrate our resolve and might against enemies who in recent weeks have threatened Iran with harshlanguage.» The Associated Press quoted the television as saying that the missiles fired included a new version of the Shahab-3 missile, which officials have saidhas a range of 1,250 miles (2,000 kilometers). The Shahab-3is equipped with a conventional warhead weighing one ton,it said. Wednesday's war games were being conducted at the mouth ofthe Strait of Hormouz.
