OIC to set up Human Rights Council for Muslim Countries

Cairo, December 08, SPA -- Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Dr Ekmel-Eddin Ihsanoglu said the OIC will soon start establishing a Human Rights Council for Muslim Countries. "The OIC is planning to formulate a program for containing the phenomenon of poverty in the Muslim world, and it will call for convening a conference to review the situation of the Muslim refugees in the world, " he said. He also noted that the OIC's General Secretariat has set up an observatory for observing the phenomenon of Islam-phobia. The first report in this respect was issued in March 2008 and the report was distributed to the OIC's member states at Dakar Islamic summit, he said.--MORE www.spa.gov.sa/614860
