Saudi newspapers shed light on the GCC summit

Riyadh, Dec 31, SPA -- The Saudi newspapers commented today editorially on the GCC summit which ended its deliberations in Muscat yesterday. The papers noted that the final communiqué has reflected the aspirations of the gulf nations. They noted that the Israeli vicious aggression against Gaza was given a great importance at the summit and subsequently the GCC leaders have agreed to make contacts with the permanent members of the Security Council so as to enable the international community shoulder its responsibility in this respect. The papers pointed out that the leaders have held Israel responsible of the deteriorating situation and urged the Palestinians to unite their ranks because disunity will have an adverse impact on the future of their cause. Moreover, the papers said the summit focused on the importance of enhancing the gulf cooperation and taking measures for realizing the gulf common market.
