Premier backs Army Chief's statement on Pakistan's sovereignty

ISLAMABAD, September 11, SPA -- Pakistan's Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Thursday said the statement of Chief of the Army Staff Ashfaq Parvaiz Kayani on country’s sovereignty was reflective of the government’s policy. The Prime Minister was commenting on a statement by Army Chief Kayani, who Wednesday said the country’s borders would be defended at every cost and no external force would be allowed to conduct operations inside Pakistan. Talking to mediapersons after the ground-breaking ceremony of Zero Point Interchange, the Prime Minister said the government had the same views as Army Chief on defending the country’s sovereignty and integrity. Earlier, the Prime Minister unveiled the plaque and performed the ground breaking ceremony of the (Pakistani) Rs 2.3 billion Zero Point interchange to provide signal-free flow for traffic in the federal capital, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported.
