CAIRO, August 24, SPA -- Egypt is due to host inter-Palestinian reconciliation meetings here on Monday, holding a series of bilateral talks grouping Egyptian officials and a number of Palestinian factions in a bid to boost national dialogue. These bilateral meetings are expected to be followed by a comprehensive dialogue meeting that Egypt will call for, after crystallizing views among Palestinian parties. Kuwait's news agency "KUNA" quoted press reports as saying that a delegation of the Islamic Jihad Movement, headed by Dr. Mohammed Al-Hindi, would be meeting with a number of Egyptian security officials tomorrow in order to bridge the gap in viewpoints between Fatah and Hamas, given the Islamic Jihad's good relations with both parties. Sources also clarified that Egyptian officials would be holding talks with members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine within the coming few hours. These bilateral talk sessions came after Egypt received written answers from Palestinian factions as regards the dialogue's content and form. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas had agreed earlier with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak start Palestinian reconciliation talks in Cairo, stemming from Egyptian efforts to tackle Palestinian disputes within the framework of Arab peace initiative.--MORE www.spa.gov.sa/584389
