KABUL, Afghanistan, August 09, SPA -- About 20 Taliban fighters werekilled in a battle with Afghan and U.S.-led forces near akey military supply route in western Afghanistan, aprovincial official said Saturday. Younus Rasouli, deputy governor of Farah province, saidpolice attacked a village in Bala Buluk district Fridayafter being informed that Taliban fighters had orderedresidents out and taken it over to use as a base. Thepolice called in air support from the U.S.-led coalitionduring the gun battle, Rasouli was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. Coalition spokesman 1st Lt. Nathan Perry confirmed thatfighter aircraft engaged in combat in Bala Buluk on Fridayfor about an hour.
