AMMAN, Jordan, May 18, SPA -- Jordan's King Abdullah II has toldIsrael to set the conditions necessary for peacemaking sothat an agreement with the Palestinians can be reached thisyear. Abdullah's remarks came in a meeting Sunday with IsraeliForeign Minister Tzipi Livni on the sidelines of the WorldEconomic Forum in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheik, hisroyal palace said. The king also held separate talks withU.S. President Bush, the Associated Press reported. The Jordanian King urged Bush to maintain a hands-on approach topeacemaking, while he told Livni that Israel mustimmediately halt settlement activities in the West Bank andend its crippling economic blockade against thePalestinians.
