Security forces kill 12 rebels in southwest Pakistan

QUETTA, Pakistan, July 27 (SPA) - Pakistani securityforces have killed at least 12 nationalist rebels in an ambushnear the south-western town of Dera Bugti, a seniorparamilitary officer said on Sunday. The fighting took place in Toba Nokhani area, 350 km (220miles) east of gas-rich Baluchistan's capital, Quetta, onSaturday. Major-General Saleem Nawaz of the paramilitary FrontierCorps, told Reuters that forces destroyed militants' hideoutsand recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition. "We have cleared the area of miscreants," he said, addingthat 17 rebels were also wounded. Five soldiers were also killed in the fighting.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/577278
