KABUL, Afghanistan, June 23, SPA -- The U.S.-led coalition inAfghanistan says it has killed 55 militants in the east ofthe country. A coalition statement says the battle took place on Fridayin Paktika province, which borders Pakistan. The Monday statement says militants ambushed a patrol withrocket and gunfire, prompting troops to fire back and callin warplanes. It says the 55 insurgents killed included three keyleaders, but does not identify them.
