TEHRAN, Iran, April 25 , SPA -- Iranians voted Friday in parliamentaryrun-off elections in which the country's leadership barred mostreformist candidates, who support better relations with theWest, from running, according to The Associated Press. At stake are 82 of the 290 seats in parliament including11 representing the capital Tehran. In the first round, conservatives won 132 seats. But theconservatives, who are loyal to principles of the 1979Islamic revolution, are divided between supporters ofhardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and opponents. Hissupporters took 90 of the 132 conservative seats in thefirst round on March 14. Reformists won 31 seats and Independents won 39 seats. Officials added an additional two hours of voting timebefore polls closed Friday. «Fortunately they extended the voting time, and I votedfor Ahmadinejad's supporters to facilitate him bringingjustice to the people,» said Alikhani. --SPA www.spa.gov.sa/549672
