Cairo, Muharram 10, 1433, Dec 5, 2011, SPA - Polling stations opened in nine of Egypt's 27 provinces on Monday for the run-off of the first round of the country's first parliamentary elections since the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak in February. The High Elections Commission said turnout reached 62 per cent, according to a report of DPA. Only four out of 56 seats were won outright in the first round. There are 104 candidates contesting the run-off for the remaining 52 seats, which is to run for two days. Egyptians are to choose between the two candidates for each seat who got the highest number of votes in the first round. Two-thirds of the parliament's 498 seats are to go to party lists, while the remaining third are earmarked for individual candidates. --SPA 14:08 LOCAL TIME 11:08 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/949607
