HERAT, Afghanistan ,March 08 , SPA --Thousands of Afghansdemonstrated Saturday in western Afghanistan, shoutingangry slogans against Denmark and the Netherlands for insults against Islam, AP quoted police sources as saying. Thousands of people walked through the city of Herat ontheir way to its main sports stadium, where speakersdenounced Denmark for reprinting cartoons of the ProphetMuhammad, and the Netherlands, where a lawmaker plans torelease a short film about Islam, police spokesman NoorKahn Nekzad said. He estimated that more than 10,000 people took part in theprotest. Demonstrators shouted «Death to Denmark for insulting ourprophet» and Last month, in a gesture of solidarity, Denmark's leadingnewspapers reprinted a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammadafter Danish police said they had uncovered a plot to killthe artist, whose drawing was one of 12 cartoons thatsparked deadly riots across the Muslim world in 2006. --SPA www.spa.gov.sa/534251
