Islamabad, Feb 14, SPA -- Police fired teargas shells to disperse a large crowd of Islamabad college students, protesting against printing of sacrilegious cartoons, when they tried to reach the embassies of Denmark and Norway located in the heavily guarded Diplomatic Enclave, Tuesday. Police said they have arrested some 150 protesters on different charges and lodged them in Islamabad police stations. Meanwhile, federal lawmakers belonging to all the political parties including the ruling coalition also took out a procession and marched up to the gates of the Diplomatic Enclave to protest the publication of blasphemous caricatures of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) in some European newspapers. Thousands of nearly half a dozen colleges of Islamabad took out a procession to register their protest. They started from the busy Peshawar More and reached the business centre of Aabpara Market, where they pelted stones on some shops and torched effigies of the Danish and Norwegian leaders. The market was immediately closed to escape the wrath of the protesters. There were nearly 6000 students in the procession when it began. However, a couple of thousands could reach close to the Diplomatic Enclave.
