Information Minister: Pakistan will have elections without disruptions

ISLAMABAD, JANUARY 21, SPA -- Pakistan's Minister for Information and Broadcasting Nisar Memon says terrorists will not succeed in disrupting the February 18 parliamentary elections, which will be held on time. "The elections will be held on February 18. There is absolutely no question about it. We will face terrorism. Every time terrorists attack, it boosts our resolve to fight terrorism ," he told the reporters. The Information minister said security of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) offices has been enhanced to ensure that this time miscreants should not damage its offices. He said all arrangements have been completed to ensure holding of elections. "Security has been beefed up and measures have been taken to compensate the economic losses." Memon said the economy was so strong that it absorbed the shocks of the disturbances. He said the caretaker government will hand over the powers to the elected government after the elections in accordance with the Pakistan Constitution. --SPA www.spa.gov.sa/519638
