Kenyans head to polls for presidential vote

OTHAYA, Kenya, December 27, SPA -- Kenyans were voting Thursday in the closest presidential election in the country's history, with President Mwai Kibaki trying to fend off a fieryopposition leader. Corruption and voter intimidation have been central themesin the campaigns, with both Kibaki and Raila Odinga vowingto end the graft that has scared off foreign investment andcost taxpayers millions of dollars, the Associated Press reported. As many as 30,000 foreign and national observers are monitoring the vote. Kenyans will also elect 210 members of parliament and morethan 2,000 local councilors Thursday.
