GAUHATI, India, May 12, SPA -- Police say suspected rebels lined upand fatally shot eight rail workers in India's insurgency-wracked northeastern region of Assam. Inspector-General of Police Khagen Sharma says Sunday'sattack by suspected insurgents came a day after the Indianarmy killed six rebels in a shootout, the Associated Press reported. The attack took place in the village of Faiding, about 300kilometers (200 miles) south of the Assam state capital ofGauhati.
