Kabul, November 02, SPA -- Afghan security forces killed a senior militant commander as he attempted to cross from Pakistan into Afghanistan, AP quoted the U.S.-led coalition as saying in a statement today. Malawi Abdul Manan and several other insurgents were killed in an ambush set up by Afghan security forces in eastern Afghanistan on Sunday, as they attempted to cross from neighboring Pakistan, the statement said. Manan's death is «a tremendous blow for the enemy,» said Maj. Chris Belcher, a coalition spokesman.«His death will seriously hamper the enemy's organization and operations as there is no known successor,» coalition said. «In addition to leading a large contingent of militants, Manan was also responsible for the movement of both insurgent fighters and weapons smuggling across the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.»--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/495801
