Colombo, November 02, SPA -- Sri Lankan fighter jets launched two airstrikes against separatist rebels Friday, bombing a Tamil Tiger base and a meeting of guerrilla leaders in the north, AP quoted the military as saying. The air force bombed a camp belonging to the Black Tigers, the Tamil rebel group's suicide fighters, in Iranamadu in the rebel-held Kilinochchi district, said air force spokesman Group Capt. Ajantha Silva. The suicide unit has been the target of repeated airstrikes since it launched an attack on an air base last week that killed 14 soldiers and destroyed eight aircraft. In a second attack Friday, air force planes pounded a gathering of rebel leaders in the same district, Silva said. He did not give details of the damage from the attacks, saying only that the targets were hit.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/495800
