COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, November 05, SPA -- Government troops attacked Tamil Tiger separatists in two different areas along the front lines in northern Sri Lanka, killing seven rebels, the military said Monday. One soldier died in a separate rebel mortar attack, it was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. In the first clash, troops destroyed a rebel bunker andkilled three female insurgents on Sunday in the Thampanearea along the southern frontier of the Tamil Tigers' defacto state in northern Sri Lanka, the military said. Four more rebels were killed early Monday when the armylaunched a pre-emptive attack on rebels planning an ambushalong the front lines north of their mini-state, themilitary said in a statement.
