ISLAMABAD, NOVEMBER 04, SPA -- President General Pervez Musharraf termed visible ascendancy in activities of extremists and increasing interference by some members of judiciary in the executive, the reasons for promulgation of a state of emergency. Some members of the judiciary are working at cross purposes with the executive and legislature in the fight against terrorism and extremism thereby weakening the government and the nation's resolve and diluting the efficacy of its actions to control this menace, the president said in an address to the nation on radio and television after mid-night Saturday.
