MIRAN SHAH, Pakistan, October 15, SPA -- Troops opened fire on a car that tried to speed through a roadblock in northwestPakistan, killing two suspected militants, an intelligenceofficial said Monday. The shooting happened Sunday in North Waziristan, amilitant stronghold near the Afghan border where fightingbetween guerrillas and troops killed some 250 people in thepast week, the Associated Press reported. The car, carrying four men, did not heed a signal to stopfor a routine check at a roadblock west of Miran Shah,North Waziristan's main town, the official said. Security forces killed two men while the other two managedto flee, the official said on condition of anonymitybecause he is not authorized to speak to the media.
