ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, July 09, SPA -- Assailants ambushed a police patrol in northwestern Pakistan early Monday, killing one officer and wounding three others, an official said. The police were hit by gunfire as they patrolled in apickup truck before dawn near the city of Bannu, in theNorth West Frontier Province, area police chief Dar AliKhattak said. One of the officers was struck in the head by a bullet and died at the scene, Khattak said. Three other policemen were lightly wounded, the Associated Press reported.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/465913
