Security Council terminates mandate of Iraq weapons inspectors

United Nations, Jun 30, SPA -- The United Nations Security Council has terminated the 16-year-old mandate of United Nations weapons inspectors in Iraq who could neither find any weapons of mass destruction nor certify that the Saddam Hussein regime did not posses them. By 14 votes in favour and Russia abstaining, the 15-member Council voted to immediately end the mandate of the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC), according to a report of the Press Trust of India.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/463562
