Indo-Pak Coast Guards officials to hold talks

ISLAMABAD, AUG 08, SPA -- A delegation of Maritime Security Agency of Pakistan has gone to India to hold talks with authorities of Indian Coast Guards, officials said. The two countries had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in October, 2005 in Islamabad under which it was decided to establish Communication links between Maritime Agency of Pakistan and Indian Coast Guards. During the talks, various matters relating to pollution incidents, Maritime Search, rescue operation, exchange of information concerning natural calamities and natural disasters and smuggling are expected to come under discussion. In November last year, a hotline was established between Maritime Agency and Indian Coast Guards. Under the MoU, a meeting of such nature will be held once a year between both the countries.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/473641
