Luxembourg, June 18, SPA -- The European Union on Monday said it was ready to restart direct financial assistance to the Palestinian emergency government led by Prime Minister Salam Fayyad. The 27-nation bloc also urged Israel to resume transfers of blocked Palestinian tax revenues of up 850 million euros to the new government, DPA news agency reported. EU foreign and security policy chief Javier Solana told reporters the bloc would be resuming direct aid to the West Bank, now fully under the control of Fayyad's moderate Fatah faction.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/459909
