Awad said the Egyptian and Saudi roles are complementary to each other, because both of the Kingdom and Egypt work for the service of the Arab causes. The stands of President Mubarak and King Abdullah are identical as regards the Arab causes, he said. On the situation in Sudan, he said President Mubarak has been giving a great attention to the situation in Sudan, because Egypt's security is closely linked with Sudan's security. He noted that Egypt was a witness of the peace agreement signed with the Southern Sudan in Jan 2005. President Mubarak had sent foreign minister Ahmad Abul Ghait and minister Omar Suleiman to Sudan to help in removing obstacles that might had faced the agreement, he noted. Moreover, an Egyptian envoy attended the talks of Abuja as an observer, he added. On the situation in the Palestinian territories, Awad said Egypt is keen on narrowing the gap between Fatah and Hamas, and on paving the way a constructive dialogue between them. He added that Egypt is concerned with the situation in Gaza, and it opposes imposition of siege on Gaza because such a siege may lead to a humanitarian disaster.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/498660
