Awad reiterated the keenness of the Kingdom and Egypt on making the meeting successful, because its success will pave the way for the region's security and peace. On the situation in Lebanon, he quoted President Mubarak as saying 'our contacts are underway with the political powers in Lebanon, and Egypt treats these political powers equally'. He noted that that Egypt is only keen on serving the interests of the Lebanese people. On the military movements of Turkey in North Iraq, Awad said Egypt has been urging Turkey and Iraq to practice self-restraint, and to deal with the challenges of the Kurdistan's Labor Party to each of Turkey and Iraq. On the nuclear issue, he pointed out to the decision approved by Riyadh summit which called for enhancing the capabilities of the Arab countries to benefit from the nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
