Iraqi Interior Minister starts Turkey visit

Ankara, Turkey, September 25, SPA -- Iraq's interior minister arrived in Turkey on Tuesday to discuss Turkish concerns overseparatist Kurdish rebels holed up in bases in northernIraq, the Associated Press reported. Turkey is seeking an anti-terrorism cooperation agreementwith Iraq that would engage its neighbor in cracking downon the rebels of the Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, whichhas been attacking targets in Turkey from bases in northernIraq. On Tuesday, a soldier was killed and four others werewounded when suspected Kurdish rebels detonated a bomb thatwas placed inside a van, at the entrance of a Turkishmilitary outpost in the southeastern province of Tunceli,the private Dogan news agency reported. A soldier and four Kurdish rebels were also killed in twodays of fighting in the province of Sirnak, near the borderwith Iraq, according to the agency and the military. «We cannot accept any person or group that is againstTurkey,» Iraqi Interior Minister Jawad al-Bolani toldreporters on arrival at Ankara's airport. «We are here totake up every issue.»--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/485703
