Kandahar, September 15, SPA -- Several rockets landed near the military base of German and US forces in the northern Kunduz province of Afghanistan overnight, officials said Saturday. There is no report of casualties from the attack, but the Talibansaid the mortars caused a fire in the targeted area. A media spokesperson with the German Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) in Kunduz told Deutsche Presse-Agentur (DPA) that three rockets hit an area close to their base late Friday night. "Three rockets were fired towards us, but they did not cause anycasualties or damage to our facilities," the spokesperson added. However the Taliban said they fired around five mortars at theGerman base and a training camp of US forces around 1130 pm lastnight. Shahbuddin Attal, a spokesman for the Taliban in northernProvinces, told DPA that they were not sure whether the attackresulted in casualties, but said it caused a huge fire.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/482858
