ISLAMABAD, August 18, SPA -- Pakistan has instituted a strong command and control system and export controls and fully supports the global efforts aimed at non-proliferation, Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tasneem Aslam said. "We have instituted strong command and control system and export controls that conform to the most stringent international standards maintained to ensure WMD non-proliferation," she stated while commenting on the remarks by Foreign Minister of Australia Alexander Downer. The spokesperson termed Downer's remarks about Pakistan as incorrect and uncalled for and said that those who forget that Pakistan was not the one to introduce nuclear weapons in South Asia, nor was Islamabad the first to test nuclear weapons, need to be reminded of the facts of history. --SPA www.spa.gov.sa/475783
