COLOMBO, May 31, SPA -- The latest fighting betweengovernment soldiers and separatist Tamil Tigers killed arebel and a soldier Thursday in Sri Lanka's volatilenortheast, the military said. In one clash, rebels attacked an army foot patrol ineastern Batticaloa and soldiers retaliated, killing oneinsurgent, said Lt. Col. Upali Rajapakse, a spokesman forthe Defense Ministry.
