Brussels, MAY 10, SPA -- European Union foreign ministers are scheduledto meet key Arab nations next week to discuss prospects for revivingIsraeli-Palestinian peace talks, DPA QUOTED EU diplomats as saying Thursday. EU ministers are expected to meet their counterparts from Egypt,Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Jordan in Brussels on May 14. The four countries are members of a so-called Arab "quartet" whichis driving forward a resurrected Arab initiative designed to endconflict in the region. The peace proposal, initially at an Arab League summit in 2002,includes a land-for-peace offer to Israel and has been warmlywelcomed by the EU as one way of breaking the current deadlockbetween Israelis and Palestinians. The Arab group is working closely on Middle East peace prospectswith an international quartet which includes the EU as well as theUnited States, Russia and the United Nations.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/448482
