U.S. military reports 5 U.S. soldiers killed

BAGHDAD, June 03, SPA -- The U.S. military on Sunday reported five American soldiers killed the day before in four separate attacks in Iraq. A roadside bomb killed a Multi-National Division _ Baghdad soldier and wounded two others as they were conducting combat operations Saturday in western Baghdad, according to a statement. A Task Force Lightning soldier also died of woundssustained from an explosion that occurred Saturday near the soldier's vehicle during operations in Diyala province, a volatile area northeast of Baghdad, the military saidseparately. Two other soldiers were wounded in the attack. A Task Force Marne soldier was killed Saturday bysmall-arms fire while patrolling south of Baghdad, themilitary added. Two Task Force Lightning soldiers were killed when their patrol was hit by a roadside bomb Saturday duringoperations in the northern Ninevah province, the militarysaid. The soldiers' names were withheld pending notification of relatives.
