United Nations, July 04, SPA -- The U.N. Security Council agenda for July will be dominated by issues in Africa and the Middle East, including three reports on Lebanon, Chinese Ambassador Wang Guangya, the council president for the month, said Tuesday. Wang told reporters that the council would discuss reports on the Lebanon-Israel war, the U.N. assessment of Lebanon’s borders for arms smuggling, and the investigation into the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri. Regarding the Arab-Israeli conflict, Wang said his hopes were with the diplomatic Quartet, which last week named former British Prime Minister Tony Blair as its new chief envoy. The Quartet consists of the United Nations, the United States, the European Union, and Russia. On Iran, Wang said there were ongoing negotiations with Tehran involving the Security Council, the European Union, and the International Atomic Energy Agency.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/464650
