Colombo, May 05, SPA -- At least 12 rebels were killed in a sea confrontation with the Sri Lankan Navy off the north-eastern coast after a flotilla of boats transporting rebels was intercepted, a military spokesman said Saturday. Twenty-six boats carrying rebels were intercepted off the Pulmoddai coast, 360 kilometers north-east of the capital late Friday by a navy fast attack craft and the rebels returned fire, sparking off a sea battle, the spokesman was quoted as saying by DPA.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/446958
