COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, Dec 14, SPA -- A breakaway rebel faction said Thursday it killed 20 members of the mainstream Tamil rebel group during a raid on a camp. There was no independent confirmation of the raid ineastern Batticaloa, and a person who answered the telephone at mainstream headquarters in Kilinochchi said leaders there were not immediately available for comment. The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam split in 2004 when a powerful Tiger leader from the east broke away from the northern-based mainstream group, taking 6,000 fighters with him, the Associated Press reported.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/411156
