SEOUL, OCT 10, SPA -- South Korean Prime Minister HanMyung-sook said Tuesday that Seoul would not support a U.N. resolution that includes a threat of military force againstNorth Korea for its claimed nuclear test, REPORTED AP. «We should oppose» the resolution if it containspotential military repercussions against the North forfailure to comply with the Security Council demands, shetold parliament. «There should never be war on the KoreanPeninsula.» The Security Council is debating language put forward bysome members that would demand the North immediately returnto nuclear arms talks. The communist North declared Monday it had conducted itsfirst-ever nuclear test, in defiance of stronginternational warnings. In July, the U.N. Security Council adopted a sanctionsresolution against the North, condemning its test-firing ofa barrage of missiles. The U.N. at the time consideredincluding possible military action against the North in theresolution _ a move strongly opposed by South Korea andChina, the North's ally and chief benefactor.
