Washington, JAN 5, SPA -- President Bush next week could order about 20,000 more U.S. troops to go to Iraq or serve as a nearby reserve, the White House said yesterday. There needs to be more in the way of forces within Baghdad, said White House Press Secretary Tony Snow. It is clear that there was insufficient force to get the job done in terms of clearing, holding and rebuilding, he said. Snow said that planning was still underway, but Bush was expected to outline a new war forward in Iraq in a national address next Tuesday. The move will face strong opposition in the Democratic Congress, which is against raising troop levels above the 140,000 already in Iraq. --SPA www.spa.gov.sa/415921
