SEOUL, South Korea, Nov 30, SPA -- South Korea has decided to send 350 peacekeepers to Lebanon, the Foreign Ministry said Wednesday, following Cabinet approval for the deployment earlier this week. The announcement came two days after the Cabinet approved the plan to dispatch infantry troops to Lebanon to oversee a cease-fire between Israel and Hezbollah group. The one-year troop dispatch is subject to parliamentary approval. «The decision is aimed at enhancing our international standing and role by actively participating U.N. activities ... and contribute to stability in Lebanon and eventual peace in the Middle East,» the ministry said in a statement quoted by the Associated Press.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/407468
