COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, NOV 12, SPA -- Two more ethnic Tamil civilians were shot dead and rebels fired artillery at military camps, officials and rebels said Sunday, as activists called for a general strike to protest the escalating civil strife. Many fear that near-daily attacks and killings are driving the country back into full-scale war, though the government and Tigers both say a 2002 cease-fire, which had halted two decades of civil war, is still in place, the Associated Press reported. Military spokesman Brig. Prasad Samarasinghe said Sunday that the Tigers fired at four army camps in Batticaloa in eastern Sri Lanka. Samarasinghe said the military retaliated after theattacks late Saturday, but it was not immediately known if the insurgents suffered any casualties.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/402467
