Islamabad, May 7, SPA -- Pakistan has strongly denied the US State Department Coordinator for Counter-terrorism Henry Crumpton’s statement in Kabul that Pakistan was not making enough efforts to curb terrorism, Pakistan Army spokesman Major General Shaukat Sultan said. He termed the allegations "baseless and beyond the facts." Sultan said that the allegation that Al-Qaeda leadership was hiding in Pakistan and its government authorities were well aware of it was "incorrect and unjustified." The spokesman said that Pakistan was frontline state against terrorism and doing its best in this regard. Meanwhile, Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Sherpao contradicted Crumpton’s statement and said that Pakistan was doing its best to eliminate terrorism. He expressed astonishment over the statement negating the role of Pakistan in fight against terrorism. The Interior Minister said that Crumpton, during his visit to Pakistan, had himself lauded and appreciated the role of Pakistan in war against terrorism. --SPA 1302 Local Time 1002 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/358978
