Baghdad, March 11, SPA -- U.S. and Iraqi forces in Baghdad andnorth of the capital detained 20 suspected insurgents earlySaturday, four of them at a west Baghdad mosque. Combined forces surrounded the Sunni al-Khayr mosquecomplex in the violence-plagued Khadhra neighborhood onFriday night. Police heard gunfire from the area, but whenthey found U.S. and Iraqi military at the scene, theywithdrew, police 1st Lt. Thayer Mahmoud was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. A dozen more suspects were captured in Tikrit, SaddamHussein's ancestral hometown 130 kilometers (80 miles)north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said in a statement.
