COOPERATION ANKARA, JULY 9, SPA -- TURKEY’S GOVERNMENT HAS RATIFIED A CIVILIAN NUCLEAR POWER AGREEMENT SIGNED WITH THE UNITED STATES IN 2000 BUT NOT IMPLEMENTED UNTIL NOW, THE GOVERNMENT SAID SUNDAY. UNDER THE DEAL, THE UNITED STATES WOULD PROVIDE NUCLEAR POWER TO TURKEY WHILE BUILDING IN SAFEGUARDS FOR NONPROLIFERATION OF WEAPONS, THE GOVERNMENT’S OFFICIAL GAZETTE SAID.
