BEIJING, MAY 22, SPA -- UNITED NATIONS SECRETARY GENERAL KOFI ANNAN MET CHINESE PREMIER WEN JIABAO MONDAY IN BEIJING, AS PART OF A TOUR OF ASIAN COUNTRIES. THERE WERE NO IMMEDIATE DETAILS OF THE TALKS, WHICH FOLLOWED A MEETING BETWEEN ANNAN AND CHINESE PRESIDENT HU JINTAO ON FRIDAY. ANNAN AND HU DISCUSSED ISSUES THAT INCLUDED IRAN, NORTH KOREA, UN REFORM, THE MIDDLE EAST AND AVIAN INFLUENZA AND UN, CHINESE OFFICIALS SAID. ANNAN ARRIVED IN BEIJING FRIDAY AT THE START OF A FIVE-DAY VISIT TO CHINA, WHICH IS ONE OF THE FIVE VETO-WIELDING, PERMANENT MEMBERS OF THE UN SECURITY COUNCIL.
