Beijing, Nov 3, SPA -- China confirmed on Thursday that the next round of six-party talks on the North Korean nuclear crisis will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 9, Reuters reported. Beijing has an "open attitude" toward the length of the talks, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan said. But he added that they might be held in stages because of an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum summit meeting in South Korea in mid-November. "Maybe the chief negotiators would accompany their heads of state to the APEC meeting. Under this situation we could achieve better results if we hold the talks in several phases," Kong told a regular news briefing. "Of course this idea is preliminary and we hope to hear what each side thinks about it. "As the host country, China will actively make efforts with the other sides to achieve new positive results." --SPA 1247 Local Time 0947 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/300390
