Sharon's 'Kadima' Party to accept Independent Palestinian State

Al-Quds city, Dec 26, SPA -- Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is ready toturn over more territory to the Palestinians and accept anindependent Palestinian state if elected to a third term,according to a draft platform of Sharon's Kadima Partypublished Monday. The platform could form the basis of the next Israeligovernment. Polls show the centrist Kadima, which Sharonformed last month, has the best chance of winning March 28parliamentary elections, according to a report of the Associated Press. Sharon left the hard-line Likud Party last month to win afree hand to proceed in peace talks with the Palestinians. Party spokesman Lior Chorev said the draft platform,detailed in the Maariv daily, was accurate and said theplan is expected to be approved by next week. The draft calls for conceding land to the Palestinians aspart of peace talks that will be a central focus of Kadimaif it is elected. The negotiations will culminate in aPalestinian state, according to the draft.
