Kabul, June 28, SPA -- Landmark legislative electionsin Afghanistan will go ahead as planned in Septemberdespite a major upsurge in attacks by Taliban-led rebelsthat have raised fears the polls could be threatened,President Hamid Karzai's spokesman said Tuesday. "I would like to emphasize that Afghanistan will not goback ... The progress we have made can never be reversedregardless of how hard the terrorists and the enemies ofAfghanistan try," spokesman Jawed Ludin told reporters."The elections in Afghanistan will take place. Theelections will be successful."
